Enginuity Workshop Director Marlene Schneider to Retire in December 2018

Marlene Schneider, director of Enginuity Workshop — Market Enginuity consulting and PBS KIDS® sales division — will retire this December after more than 20 years in public media.

“I couldn’t be happier for Marlene, but we will miss her greatly,” said President Jim Taszarek. “Marlene’s depth of industry experience, thoughtful approach and advice grounded in public media values allowed Market Enginuity to develop initiatives that grew revenue, particularly for PBS KIDS programming.”

Schneider partnered with Market Enginuity to create Enginuity Workshop in 2010. The partnership expanded consulting services and focused on developing new revenue initiatives for the industry. In 2014, Enginuity Workshop developed a team of station-based PBS KIDS sponsorship representatives, generating millions for the stations we represent from programming that was largely unsponsored.

Kirk Nelson, Market Enginuity co-founder, added, “Marlene’s PBS® training and deep knowledge of all public media will be missed, along with her sincere interest in helping all those in public media who met her. It’s been an honor to work with Marlene.”

Marlene started her public broadcasting career in the sponsorship department at Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB). Since leaving OPB in 2002, Marlene specialized in corporate support consultation, working with nearly 50 public television and radio stations as well as national organizations Greater Public and PBS.

For PBS, Marlene serves as a lead trainer for two programs, both of which she was instrumental in developing and continually updating: Corporate Support Performance Initiative (CSPI) sales training and the PBS KIDS Values Workshop. Marlene also co-led the research projects PBS Best Practices in Corporate Support, 2007 and the 2016 Local Market Revenue Category Study.
